Optimal Design and Control of a Separately Excited DC Motor

The aim of this research project includes:

  • Developing a method for optimising coupled systems of DC motors / PID controllers.
  • Developing and simulationg the DC motor / PID controller
  • Model using MATLAB
  • Running this simulation for finding the optimum motor/controller system, optimised to drive a load having a torque of 6 Nm.
  • Model using MATLAB

Motors / controllers derived from this method should have minimum performance indices, good response and low weight.
